I met my ex husband on match.com. I remember the outfit he was wearing when he picked me up for our first date. He looked like he worked at Target with kachi pants and a red polo shirt. Ha ha! I don’t even remember was I was wearing. He was such a nice guy and I thought he was attractive. He was a little on the dorky side and didn’t really work out much so didn’t have muscular arms like I usually like but that’s okay. He moved to Tucson from Michigan to get his PhD in material science from U of A. They ended up losing funding for that program so he ended up getting his Masters degree instead. I was working as an EMT and owned my second home. We must have met when I was about 27 I think. He was 3 years younger than me or maybe 2 and a half years younger. Our first date was to Oreganos and then bowling. It was a really good first date. I don’t think we kissed that night. I think our second date was babysitting my nephew who was only about 1 years old. I think my little sisters were there also. We went on 4 dates 4 nights in a row. We really liked each other. I think it wasn’t until the 4th date that we kissed. I think I also told him on our 4th date that I have bi-polar and had been hospitalized a few times. He was really understanding and still liked me. We ended up going on a trip to San Diego together. Can’t remember how long we were dating before that but it wasn’t long. My Dad and Step Mom owned a condo there so we stayed there and had a blast. After a few months I think I broke up with him on Friday the 13th. I guess I just wasn’t feeling the chemistry as much. We got back together I am not sure how much later. He graduated from U of A and started looking for jobs anywhere in the Nation. I got his a job as a dispatcher at Southwest Ambulance in the meantime. He found a job pretty quick though and it was in Danbury, Connecticut. I was so excited for him. I knew I would move with him. I always wanted to move out of state and was excited to be able to quit my EMT job. Of course I was going to miss my family and my baby nephew the most. Jason proposed to me after only about 10 months of dating and I of course said yes! The ring was beautiful, He really took his time finding the perfect ring. He had to leave for Connecticut before me to start working. I had to give my 2 weeks notice with my job and sell all my furniture and pack. His parents were so sweet to fly from Michigan and pack my SUV (2010 Chevy Equinox) with all the stuff I wanted to take and drove my car to Connecticut. They loved driving across country. I flew there. I was so excited to see our cute little apartment in New Milford, CT above a dance studio with our own inside set of stairs. It had wood floors and brick walls. It was a 2 bedroom one bathroom. We lived on Railroad St across from railroad tracks, a view of the river, and there was a cute little wine shop right across from our apartment. Think it was called Dolly’s. We were right around the corner from Bank Street where Mr. Deeds was filmed. There was a cute bakery, an older movie therater, a cute coffee shop, a pizza place, a nice restaurant and bar, a corner store, a couple breakfast places. I loved the city. It was so cute. I didn’t have a job and would take walks and get a bottle of the Izzy sparkling juice sometimes. I was binge watching Dexter while my husband was at work, because he had already seen it. My best friend Jen came to visit which was a blast. I had my 15 year old or maybe younger sister come to visit us for 10 days. We did lots of fun stuff. Kent Falls, a rollercaoster place, a train and boat ride, NYC, etc. Then my Mom and 2 little sisters came to visit. That was fun except the youngest sister had 2 episodes of screaming. We did fun things like NYC. My sister Vanessa came and visited us once and that was a blast. My husband ended up getting a job at IBM in Poughkeepsie NY a year later and we moved to a nice apartment in Wappinger’s Falls. There was a really nice restaurant we liked to go to. Shadow on the Hudson or something like that. It was a few minute walk to the Hudson River from our apartment. My brother came and saw us once and we went to the fancy restaurant on the Hudson. He had just gone to NYC for 9/11. It was really nice of him to visit. When I was in CT still I found out my sister was pregnant. I was luckily able to go to Tucson to visit and be there the day he was born. He is 14 now. I was going to write about our divorce in the same blog, but I think I will write another blog about the divorce. I may add more to this blog too, but I am going to rest for now. Woke up at went to the 6:30am AA meeting and am meeting a friend for coffee soon to give her the Stefanie’s Safe Space shirt she ordered. Guess the big U of A basketball game is on today, but I probably won’t watch it. I need to swim laps again today. Hope everyone has a great day! Love and Peace to you all!
